Prom Night 2009 @ Amara Hotel
21st November 2009
met the pageants and guohao for lunch at IMM before heading to Amara hotel at 2pm.
reached there slacked until 3pm before going into the function room to help the pageants rehearse their dance, style their hair and put makeup.
the prom started at 6.30,
and the food was great.
so much better than last year luh ! :D
didn't really eat much last year cause the pageants didnt have time.
and this year's room is much bigger than last year's!
the MC for the prom is Matthew, the same host from BAOC.
and the pageant's performance is from 7 plus till 10 plus.
anyway, the performances turned out great.
the solo and couple catwalks were almost perfect, and the choreo was nice! :D

NRA Suntec Dance Competition Achievements Celebration & Samantha's birthday.

NRA held a celebration at Ourspace to congratulate the 6 nra teams that made it into the grand finals & the other 5 teams that made it to the semis.
supposed to help kathleen with logistics, so me and yee ler went to studio 16 take ice, cooler,etc.
after that we just waited till 6.30pm for everyone to arrive.
there's buffet, suntec dance groups choreo screening, freshies-senior bonding & photo taking.

Prom Preparation Week
16th-19th november 2009
Went back to school to teach the prom pageants the prom dance, edited the songs together etc.
At first the guys didnt really catch the dance, and it isn't an easy task, cause many of them never danced before.
But i'm really glad they practiced a lot when im not around.

Here's the results of the Np Badminton Doubles Open 09.
took part with Hamdan in it like 1 month ago.
we were in group D.
and it was using the round robin system.
which means the winner of each group will face each other in the semi finals.
in the end me and hamdan got 2nd place in the group, & didnt make it into the semis.
our results:
1st match , 7-21 (Lose) (that team proceeded to win the competition after that)
2nd match, 21-6 (Win) (against nelson and mong. lol! :P)
3rd match, 21-7 (Win)
4th match, 21-5 (Win)

Ngee Ann Poly is FLOODED!
floods in the atrium, library, underpass, pond, NP orchard road, makan place and other parts of the school.
i heard that its the first time NP has floods this bad.
its flooded ankle-deep till knee-deep in certain parts.
it makes me wonder how did it flood in the 5th floor of the library and 2nd floor in makan place?

LMS lesson was crazy today.
we were supposed to learn about the johari window and stuff.
there's this part where everyone had to write about one person in class on a quality that he himself don't know and present to the class.
and the my name appeared in almost everyone of the paper. -.-
stuff like : " I didn't know ching yi can cook", " i think chingyi is cool", " i think ching yi is fat","can i have your famous amos cookies on your table? "( 2people asked that) , "i think chingyi looks like he comes from a rich family", etc.
LOL, i think people have really weird impressions of me
and they are all almost WRONG :P
firstly, i cook :D
secondly, im not cool.
thirdly, i finished the famous amos cookies already and that was only an empty packet XD

met the NRA people at 5pm before going to Singapore poly to watch their dance performance/ play.
ohya, macdonalds damn cheap! $ 4.90 for mc wings meal D:
anyway, we waited till 7pm before we were let into the convention centre.
the performance was great.
i like the storyline and the acting.
the clowns were damn funny :P
the dance choreo was also very creative, especially the mirror dance, and the clown in the box dance.
and i think the girls' dance performances were awesome shit.
they are damn flexible D: *jealous*
i'd rate it 8/10 :D
& i hope SP's Strictly Dance zone would come to support NRA in danzation next year :D

DAD's birthday treat
the 14th October was my dad's birthday, so i decided to bring him and mum to a treat at Pariss @ Marina Square which costs about $40 per person and almost $120 in total.
i've always wanted to try Pariss' out, and so yea..
its freaking expensive for a buffet restaurant, but it was pretty worth it having tasted the food.

there used to be four NRA classes : A1, A2, A3 and A4
but now its just A1 and A2.
so there's ALOT of people in one class
im now in A1 class and trainings are on Mondays and Wednesdays.
anyway, today's lessons were conducted by Ann Tan, the principal choreographer for NRA.
her lessons are very tiring but interesting & inspirational :D
tiring because of basics practice.
especially "Up-and-down". LOL.
that was a killer.
can't feel my legs after that :P
the choreo was really nice,
the speed of the lesson was very fast though, probably cuz there wasn't enough time.
i was standing at the back and there were 4-5 people in front of me.
i could hardly see myself in the mirror D: urghs.
next time gonna chiong in front already, heheh.
kinda pissed with myself cause i couldnt catch the last few steps of the choreo.
not used to the new footwork D:
after that we had an inspirational debrief ~
and its the first time nra lessons lasted from 6.30pm-9pm plus. (:

Funkamania's coming up, and NRA's going to choose one group of freshies to perform.
and one group = 7-8 people.
7 people out of 140 freshies? D:
although its almost impossible to get into that team,
im going to work doubly hard for the coming months,
cause as long as you work to the best of your ability towards a goal,
even if you fail to reach it,
you'll still find satisfaction in the amount of improvement you've made.

i have no dance background and the first time i really got into dance was march this year.
and its a path that i've chosen with no turning back (:
im going to work hard to achieve my goals :D
and i gotta work on my weak side.
talking about weak points,
i've got ALOT.
1) Flexibility.
i've been swimming since young and my thighs feels damn stiff/tight when i stretch ):
like one piece of irritating muscle o.O
and i've always gotten a C for Napfa sit-and-reach.
but im glad im improved a little.
i can touch my toes now :D
but its still a long long way to go! (:
2) Head Isolations left-right
stiff neck! haha.
got to work damn hard for this.
seems like its a very important basic for choreos.
3) Turns
having problems coordinating the legs turning and neck turning.
4) Stage Fright
here's something i want to get rid of.
i guess because of little stage experience i had.
it gets really irritating.
especially when you can do choreos correctly during rehearsals, but your mind goes blank during the performance.
its a really bad feeling.
cause you'll not only bring hours of hard work to waste, but also bring down others in your group D:

surprisingly, the only basics im good at now is chest isolations :x
its going to be tough,
but i won't give up, cause there's much more a person's body can do :D
and there wont be success until you succeed ~

if you ask me, NRA dance camp is the awesome-st camp ever. wahaha.
although im like half-dead, so my camp mates might find me too quiet/stoning sometimes.
cause 6 days of camp is drainingggg.
didnt really sleep through TBC, so NRA camp i was hardly awake.
my brain was dead, i didnt really have the mood to mingle and stuff.

first we had icebreaking games
my sleeping group was group 2.
the group leaders were ellia and ivan.
they're two really funny people, glad to have them as GLs.
we played alot of random games, like captain of the ship, name game, wedding game and charades.
though it may seem boring, it was conducted in the funnest way ever :D
and yea, through it i got to know more nra freshies in the process.

after that we had make-up class, by shufang and stacey.
rather amazing. makeup can really transform a person.
but its time consuming, and i cant really remember the steps and stuff.
after the lesson, each group had to pick out a song, and a guy-girl mascot had to represent the group with makeup, hairstyled and mood according to the song.
mine was a sad song, lol.
me and flora kinda impromptu-ed the acting.
glad it turned out fine.:D

we also had station games like classroom maze, pass-the-water, the ball-throwing game and the team bonding obstacle course.
our group owned at the ball- throwing game, cause we had 3 tall defenders and crazy distractors. hahahaha.
and the pass-the-water game had alot of scandals. :P

On the second morning, we had PT.
didnt exercise for so long, so i felt really worn out.
we did a team run and other endurance training.
its really good, cause it'd build up our teamwork as well as stamina.

the best part of camp should be the dance performance groups.
i got into group 3, Sinyang and Lester's group.

which was pretty bad, cause sinyang and lester aren't L.hiphop type.
so i think it was pretty tough for them to choreo the steps.
in the end, i think our group's dance steps are the nicest! (with the exception of group 4)
although it was pretty hard to dance.
though the practices were not airconditioned, and it was really hot,
it was really heartwarming to train together with the group mates as a team

On the first night we watched a basketball movie.
emphasizing on how teamwork and determination can lead us to greater heights.
the movie was damn long though.
almost fell asleep xD

On the second night, there was a NRA freshie bonding/ talent showcase night.
haha, the MC was Ben. damn funny.
we watched some of the senior's Suntec finals performance, other random videos and played games like "Guess-Who?", Ninja Game etc.
for 'guess who', to answer the question, guys have to stand up and say in the gayest voice " kopi ji puay", and girls in the manlyest voice, before they can answer. LOL.
for the last activity, there was the TALENT SHOWCASE, which was the most enjoyable part of the night.
it was where the freshies show their talents other than dancing.
it was scary, a lot of people have like superb flexibility. *jealous*
kyra did cheerleading, barto did wushu stunts, yuhan did the leg to neck thingy, etc.
in the end, it ended up with a dance battle.
first was who could dance sexily, then locking, popping, bboy and house.
cool, everyone was like improptu freestyling.
jiaen etc saboed me for popping, lol!

the third day was dance performance day.
all of us had last-minute dance practice and had lunch before proceeding on to makeup and hairstyling.
i think i look real unglam in the pictures,
i was sweating like shit cause it was damn hot, and i didnt have the mood to style my hair.
just anyhow. LOL.
